WISE Senior Seminar

Within the context of a Senior Seminar, the senior project is an opportunity which allows seniors to pursue learning in areas of particular individual interest during the spring semester for academic credit The senior project requires significant academic rigor while simultaneously allowing students more freedom and choice in both their schedule and studies. Each project must involve both library and primary research, out-of-school visits, interviews, and the production of a journal as evidence of significant learning. The culmination of the Senior Project is a formal presentation before a panel. The project is coordinated by Mrs. Capalbo, an SHS guidance counselor, who acts as a mentor and supervises research and process, and one or more experts in the field of inquiry from outside the school. Both school and community based individuals guide the student in his or her learning.
