Social Stories

What is a social story?

Carol Gray first defined social stories in 1991. “A social story is considered a process that results in a product for a person with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A social story requires consideration of and respect for- the perspective of the person with ASD. As a product, a social story describes a situation, concept, or social skill using a format that is meaningful for people with ASD It is a process and product that improves social understanding between people with ASD and those who work on their behalf. See Carol Gray’s website for more in-depth information on how to write social stories.”
